DISCLAIMER
The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office is committed to ensuring those in our care and custody have adequate access to communicate with their legal representatives during the COVID-19 shelter in place order issued by the Health Officer of Alameda County. Non-contact visiting is still available to attorneys and essential professionals at the Santa Rita Jail.
Global Tel Link (GTL), the telephonic and video communications provider for Santa Rita Jail, has offered to provide professional video visitation, where available, for attorneys and essential professionals during the shelter in place order. The professional video visitation service offered by GTL is a courtesy intended to provide additional opportunities for communication between attorneys and clients. The temporary access to professional video visitation is in no way intended to replace in-person visitation between attorney and client.
Please be aware that housing units 1, 2,8, 9, and 24 have visiting kiosks located in areas outside of inmate living areas where there may be reduced foot traffic, professional staff, and deputies. It is possible that other people may hear attorney-client communications. Inmates housed in the Outpatient Housing Unit have access to video visiting kiosks in their cells.
All professional video visitation between you and your client is conducted at your own risk. Video visiting kiosks in all housing units besides those mentioned in the foregoing paragraph are located in common dayroom areas. Due to the location of those kiosks, there should be no expectation of privacy. High ambient noise levels are probable, and frequent interruptions may occur due to heavy foot traffic from both deputies and inmates, all of which are outside of the control of both GTL and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.
Professional video visitation is a service provided by GTL and therefore not guaranteed by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.
